Great outfits of TV and movies.......

A few weeks back we had a mid week albeit early movie night with our little people. The movie of choice was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with the glorious Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. A movie of chocolate to drool over and what do you think I was thinking about? I'll give you a hint, it wasn't the Oompa Loompas.

I found myself once again like I had as a kid, transfixed by Willy Wonky's purple velvet coat. Of course when I announced out aloud to the Ben, how I'd love to own that coat, and told him how amazing it was and I could rock it.

I was met with the you're ridiculous look, and the comment: is that all you think about when you watch these old movies and shows? Um yeah, pretty much I can't help it!!!!! I always watch these favourite old movies and TV shows, taking mental notes of patterns and designs of pieces I like and then dream a little what it might be like to find these type of pieces.

But come on let's face it we all do it, don't we? Who hasn't watched The Wizard of Oz and imagined those ruby red slippers with blue socks upon their feet. Seriously isn't it like every vintage girls dream?

So it got me to thinking what are the shows and movies that have made you swoon over the casts wardrobe. What are those standout pieces and outfits from those movies and shows that you would walk over hot coals for if they were being offered to you. I'm seriously interested to hear what's on your list, I'll give you some time to think about it, I've got my own list to blog, but please share with me your lists.

Absolutely anything Holly Golightly wears could have a place in my wardrobe any day! I know what you mean about those ruby slippers, too! When I was little, mum bought me sparkly red plastic dress up shoes because of how obsessed I was with The Wizard of Oz, and watching it again in Film Studies yesterday, I still drool over them!

It's the Brady Bunch that makes my heart beat a little faster. I adore just about anything Carol Brady wears. I kind of wish I was Carol Brady, living in that cool house, with Alice taking care of all of the mundane chores! Xx

I was hoping to scroll down and see you dressed as Willy Wonka! I'd love a frock coat like that.
I can't say I'm much influenced by films, probably because I tend to prefer thrillers and war films and camo doesn't suit me although I wouldn't mind Ursula Andress's bikini from Dr No! xxx

Oh I had such a crush on Gene Wilder in this film when I was little! Me and thousands of other little girls, I'm sure. I always, always wanted Sarah from the film Labyinth's outfit in the start, particularly the shirt she's wearing, I would have committed any number of crimes to own one like that.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOO I LOVE THAT COAT!
Yep, I too watch old films and get major clothes inspiration!
When I was 16 I loved Diane Lane's wardrobe in Streets of Fire......otherwise, and Jane Austen adaption sets my heart a flutter, and I also love the costumes in The Age of Innocence. And the Brady Bunch, like Leisa! AND anything Pam Grier wore in her Blaxploitation heyday!O, gawd, and too many more to mention! X

Oh, I have too many too Trudie. I go way back to any of those beautiful costumes from the 18th, 19th century right through to the 50's fasions of shows like Happy Days or the movies from the day. I also wanted to dress like Mrs Brady when I grew up. Some people might say that I do! LOL

Well believe me I'd like to see myself in my very own Wonka cost. Some how Vix I'm sure you could and would make camo gear look amazing with your own spin. X
