Oh Vintage Christmas Tree, Oh Vintage Christmas Tree....

Like many other families last Sunday we broke out the Christmas tree and decorations. I had been looking forward to it all week and had plans and images in my head of us all being happy and joyous, decorating the tree, listening to my Rat Pack Christmas Carols CD and capturing some special moments. Let's just say things started well, then we discovered and remembered that we didn't have any Christmas lights because we had to throw them out last year. So late Sunday afternoon in the midst of it all we had to pile in the car and go and buy Christmas lights.

The unexpected break just caused all sorts of child related chaos to ensue once we were home, but thankfully I had a the kids tree to occupy them. The kids tree is a smaller tree we have on our entry buffet that the kids decorate with ornaments they have made over the years at kindy, family day care and here at home with me. It also includes some of my retro Christmas ornaments.

The pictures below probably show no story of chaos ensuing, so you'll just have to believe me it was there....oh boy was it there. But all the pics of the kids and Ben decorating the tree were taken by me from the lounge, whilst I was feeding Fraser......Christmas multi-tasking at it's best.

My two favorite decorations of mine, they take me back to being a kid. I'm so glad I came by these op shopping a few years ago. Then there's my miniature wooden collection.

Christmas shopping is only somewhat underway, the kids are all getting a little bit of vintage this Christmas and I am just busting with excitement to show you all what I have in store for Sarah. But I'm going to be good and hold out until she has got her goodies in her little hands.

Sarah's dress is actually reversible it was an op shop buy for $1.50. The other side is green with white polka dots with a deer appliqué in the same fabric you see on her dress in the pics above. What's spooky about the garage.....creepy crawlies?? I won't hassle you if it is because I'm whimp with cockroaches. I hope you'll post pics of your tree. Big love to you my love.

We have those little wooden ones too. I believe we must be the only family in the world who haven't put their tree up yet!

We had exactly the same scenario with Christmas lights! Chaos! That is so cute that the kids have a little tree to decorate. Lovely photos. Merry Christmas to you. Cheers, Alison

I love your eclectic ornaments, we have some like the little wooden ones that bring me back. I used to spend hours entranced by our vintage decorations as a kid.
