2014 Week 16: My Wednesday Style Collective....

Yesterday I had Lady Luck with me, my mum joined us for some op shopping and chit chat, and she must have bought good fortune with her because I picked up some awesome scores. Busy lives and commitments make it difficult to see my mum on a regular basis and with Cohen now in school opportunities are drastically reduced. But that's what school holidays are for right? Making plans, catching up and connecting.

Mum had wanted to do some op shopping so I surprised her with doing the rounds and showing her a few places she didn't know existed, as well as visiting a tucked away little gem that I recently became aware of and visited for the first time with mum.

We had a wonderful time, and she laughed at all the "old things" I was getting excited over. Mum busied herself spoiling the kids and buying them all manner of things of which some things are sure to drive me nuts. Mum if you're reading this, thanks very much, a certain toy may arrive on your doorstep in the dead of the night. Then who will be laughing? But jokes aside I guess that's partly a grandparents right to break the rules and drive their own child nuts, right?

For a day out adventuring with mum this what I wore. The glorious embroidered top is another gorgeous gift from Leisa, bless her heart she knows my vintage loving heart so well.

Vintage Embroidered Tunic - gift from Leisa
Skirt - op shopped
Shoes - retail
Vintage Tooled Leather Bag - op shopped as a Christmas present to myself a few years ago
Sunglasses - are prescription glasses and of course are retail

A gratuitous tooled bag pic, sorry I can't help it and I know you've all seen it before, but I can never get enough of looking at the back of this bag, I just adore it.

Tell me, have you ever op shopped with your mum? Does she understand your love of vintage or does she think you're a little crazy?

Op shop with my Mum!!! Ha never. I cannot even convince her to recycle and she constant talks about how all my stuff is so old. Though Tamika and I regularly op shop together

That used to be our regular Friday thing - meeting Mum for a charity shop marathon followed by a bottle of house white - how I miss it.
Love that embroidered top, red really looks great on you. Your deer bag must be the sister to my owl! x

Aren't you just gorgeous....vintage hippy bohemian funky Mumma. When I spied that top at Salvos I knew it had your name all over it. I'm so glad you had a fun day with your mum. My mum loves op shopping too so we enjoy going together, although she takes a lot longer in each shop then I do. She knows what I like, although she tends to buy more of the modern stuff. You can show off that tooled bag as many times as you want. I'll still be drooling over it! Xx

My mum loves a good op shop. I often go with her. I had a tool round my faves yesterday and got some amazingly good stuff too. Must be in the air!

Perhaps we should get our mums to shop together and leave us to treasure hunt together.

Oh Vix that just sounds wonderful. I can imagine you miss those times. I'm sure your mum is with you in spirit every time you're out searching for treasures.

I think the mums take longer because we've trained our eye to scan for treasures. But mums can be meticulous about having a look.

Well you know if you're confessing to amazing finds, you've now got to show them off. I want to know what you got.

Aww bless you, thank you. It's crazy that I steered clear of red for so many years. But an outfit like this is such an easy wear for me.

Love the bag and the red blouse from Leisa. Yes, my mum likes charity shopping, although we rarely go together, we live too far apart. But she loved the flea market when I took her there, and we grew up going to jumble sales with her. xxx
