I'm not scared of colour and playing with combinations and patterns, seriously it's one of the things that brightens my day and gives me spark. But as much as I have a load of colour in my life and wardrobe, I have previously lacked confidence with styling less "colourful" shades and colours.
But as I matured and over the years I have pushed myself more to give things a go with less favoured colours and just throw caution to the wind and say:
Heck if it doesn't work out there's always a colourful outfit tomorrow to be worn and redemption there.
I have found the key for me to styling an outfit with minimal vibrancy or flare in colourful fabrics and patterns, is to create the interest and impact with colourful accessories. The striped gold and sand sheer top is a new retail buy to me, which I saw on a sale rack for $2, I knew it would be an easy mix with my 1970's brown plaid wool skirt and I thought it was worth the experiment to see how I could make it come together in quick and easy outfit.
Top - retail on sale $2
1970's Wool Plaid Skirt - church garage sale
Ballet Flats - retail on sale years ago
Snoopy Bag - op shopped for $2
Orange Beads and Enamel Flower brooch - op shopped
Orange and brown are a great retro combination of colours, so I went with it which also gave me a chance to flash around the Snoopy handbag I picked up about a month ago op shopping.
Although I don't have Snoopy's mindset as shown on this bag, I think it's quite a funny juxtaposition for someone like me to be carrying it, with the happy outlook I have each day. I certainly don't think anything has been a waste, but I would have found it a waste to not let the bag come home with me and have laugh over it.
What say you?
